The event will be held in the southern Polish city of Chorzów on May 29 and 30.

As coronavirus curbs ease, up to 7,600 spectators are expected to be allowed access to the city’s landmark Silesian Stadium, where hosts Poland will be looking to win back-to-back titles at Europe’s flagship team competition.

The 2021 European Athletics Team Championships will feature eight teams, including reigning champions Poland, who will face opposition from France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Portugal, Spain and Ukraine.

Standout names on Team Poland include shot putter Michał Haratyk, hammer thrower Paweł Fajdek, and pole vaulter Piotr Lisek, alongside middle-distance runner Marcin Lewandowski and rising sprint star Pia Skrzyszowska.

Poland won the 2019 European Athletics Team Championships, which were held in its north-central city of Bydgoszcz.

Team Poland at the time finished ahead of Germany and France.
